The Community Development Department performs a variety of duties including engineering, construction inspection, plan checking, drafting, preparation of plans and specifications, and monitoring of contracts for various public improvement projects such as streets, water lines, sewer mains and drainage facilities. Encroachment permits are issued with inspections performed on streets, curbs and gutters, and pavements.
Two of the major accomplishments in recent years are the Schnoor Avenue Bridge and the Madera Intermodal Transportation Facility. Current projects include the Cleveland/Gateway/Country Club Intersection Project, signal lights and the Cleveland Avenue Widening Project.
