Police Activities League (PAL)

In times like these, strong, trusting bonds between the police department and the community are more important than ever. Madera PAL programs are designed specifically to build those kinds of bonds by bringing police officers and youth together in the spirit of cooperation, not confrontation.

Our GoaIs . . .
...are to give our youths the confidence, self-esteem and interpersonal skills to become responsible members of society. Through the support of local PAL members, youths are provided with recreational and educational resources to assist them in becoming positive individuals in the community. PAL is based on the conviction that young people, reached early enough, can develop the strong positive attitudes they need to combat the gang and drug pressures being faced on a daily basis.

Opportunities . . .
... for youths to see their potential to become contributing members in their community. We also open avenues for youths to succeed in ways they might not have expected.

Positive Police Interaction . . .
...shows our youths that a police officer can be their friend and role model. By reaching out to youths with constructive activities that build discipline and self-esteem, PAL is providing alternatives to "hanging out" on the streets with gangs and drugs.

Working with Other Organizations . . .
...Madera PAL in conjunction with community based organizations, is involved with recreational and educational programs.
           – Statewide and national basketball, baseball, softball, track
               and field tournaments and self-defense
           – Fishing, skiing & camping trips
           – Self-defense, music, cooking & cultural education classes
           – Recreational activities & games

Our Growing Programs . . .
... are creating strong bonds between police officers and the communities they serve. The teamwork of Madera PAL is helping youth grow into productive citizens, as well as giving our community a positive and proactive approach to crime prevention.

Madera PAL is funded totally from donations from businesses and organizations within the community. Officers working with PAL are donating their time to PAL activities in addition to working regular police duties. Contributions to PAL go much deeper than just supporting sports. Donations are not only supporting local police officers, but are helping the youth of our community to become happy well adjusted young adults.

PAL is a charitable organization; all donations are tax deductible.
