Ride-Along Program
The Madera Police Department, in an effort to both familiarize the community in police operations and to promote the law enforcement profession, has instituted a "Ride-Along" program. Interested and qualified persons may directly observe the many facets of police patrol operations and gain insight into police techniques and procedures.
The "Ride-Along" program requires that individuals: be free of felony convictions, specify a reason for participating in the program and are approved to participate by the on-duty watch commander. Applicants are reminded that they must release the City of Madera from any injuries they may incur, that they may not bring cameras or other recording devices, must have parental approval if under 18 years of age, wear appropriate clothing, not carry weapons of any kind and be mindful of the officer they are assigned with during the ride.
You are reminded that the ride along program may bring you into sudden contact with dangerous situations and/or individuals. Although, the utmost care will be afforded to your safety during such encounters, it will be imperative that you precisely follow the directions of any orders given to you by the officer you are assigned.
