The Beautification Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Madera City Council and staff on community beautification matters including: develop and formulate programs and projects to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the community; develop an ordinance which will establish landscape standards for new development projects; develop and recommend practices and policies which will enhance and upgrade existing properties; and coordinate periodic community clean up campaigns and encourage public participation therein.

The Beautification Committee is composed of five members who serve a four–year term. Appointees shall be residents of the City of Madera.

The current Beautification Committee members are as follows:

  • Karen Brown
  • Maxine Barnett
  • Rosanne Bonilla


The Beautification Committee meets every second (2nd) Thursday of the month.  Regular meetings are held at the City of Madera Parks & Community Services Department, located at the John W. Wells Youth Center on 701 East 5th Street, Madera, CA  93638 starting at 5:30 p.m.

The next Regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.

"Madera Beautiful" Landscape Award Program


The Committee is currently accepting nominations for the Spring “Madera Beautiful” Landscape Awards program.  The deadline to nominate a neighbor or yourself is May 31, 2011.

The awards are as follows:

  • one residential per season
  • one commercial per year

The seasons are as follows:
  • Spring award will include March, April & May.  To be awarded in June.
  • Summer award would include June, July & August.  To be awarded in September.
  • Fall award would include September, October & November.  To be awarded in December.

Each season's Madera Beautiful award winner will receive the following:
  • A sign for their front yard.
  • Certificate of appreciation.
  • Picture and article in local newspaper.

 

If possible, please include a picture with your nomination.  Pictures are not required to be considered for the award.
