City of Madera, Anti Graffiti Program

For Empowered Citizens

The City of Madera Anti-Graffiti Program needs dedicated residents to coordinate their neighborhoods. "Empowered Citizens" are those who sign up and volunteer their time & energy to help rid graffiti from our community. "Empowered Citizens" receive a Graffiti Kit with supplies to erase graffiti. The kit is to be used on smooth structures; light poles, mailboxes, street signs with non-reflective paint and so on. We ask Maderan's to do their part! Do as much or as little as you want. There are no commitments. If you would like to get involved please contact Christina at (559) 232-9758 cherrera@cityofmadera.com or Tim at (559) 232-9792 tfarrell@cityofmadera.com. Since September 2009, nearly 800 people have joined the program as "Empowered Citizens," volunteering their time & energy to making Madera a finer place to live

Graffiti Removal

The goal is to remove graffiti within 48 hours of its occurrence. Empirical evidence has shown the sooner graffiti is removed from a structure the less likely graffiti will reoccur on that same structure. Residents can take back their neighborhoods by helping to clean up graffiti. We encourage you to do as much or as little as you want. Any effort to remove graffiti makes a BIG difference! Be persistent! Repeated removal will likely be needed, as vandals may try again. If you consistently remove graffiti within 24-48 hours, vandals realize graffiti is no longer tolerated in that area and will move on.
