Since the opening of the new Madera Police Facility crime in the downtown area has dropped significantly, promoting a more community friendly environment where citizens and businesses can prosper.  In addition, response times to calls for service to high crime areas have decreased allowing for more effective policing throughout the community.

Citizens are able to walk into the lobby of the police headquarters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and request to speak to an officer.

There are also two interview rooms for citizens to speak with patrol officers in a private setting.  MPD’s open access facility located in the heart of Madera promotes public interaction in partnership with patrol officers to identify and find mutual solutions to problems within our community.

The City of Madera continues to provide patrol officers with the modern technology and equipment necessary to safely, effectively and efficiently fight crime while utilizing the best of its technological resources to serve the public.  MPD patrol fleet vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as; in-car cameras, portable laptop computers and digitally encrypted radios.  This technology not only enables patrol officers to quickly receive and transmit vital information, providing faster service, but also allows officers to capture vital events of historical and evidentiary value.
