The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Madera Police Department in carrying out the Department’s mission to provide high quality service and protection to the citizens of Madera. Patrol officers comprise the largest number of sworn officers in the Department and new officers are added as needed to supplement the growth of the community.
Our goal in the Patrol Division is to be community oriented, proactive and to serve the city with pride, integrity and professionalism. Patrol officers strive to provide the citizens of Madera a timely and effective response to their calls for service and to create a safe environment within our community. Our patrol officers are some of the best and brightest people chosen from our community and from among the top graduates of Police Academies throughout the state. These officers undertake extensive training, both prior to and after becoming a police officer for the City of Madera.
Patrol officers are dedicated to providing the best service possible to the citizens of our community and that sometimes means training on their days off, often training in inclement weather and at night to prepare for all types of real life scenarios.

MPD Range Training
Patrol officers are the Madera Police Department’s front line ambassadors to the community. Your patrol officers are on duty 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This means weekends, nights, and holidays. Patrol officers often sacrifice personal time with their families as they are subject to call-out during emergencies and/or major events. Even while off duty police officers retain their lawful authority and may take law enforcement action in critical situations.
