The City of Madera Swimming Complex at 4th & Flume has a wading pool, a lap pool (which is ADA accessible), and a diving pool for the enjoyment of the community.

Centennial Park
Centennial Park (formerly known as Swimming Pool Park) is heavily shaded, has restroom facilities and is the location of the new John W. Wells Youth Center.  The swim pool area may be rented for special functions including private parties, birthdays, sports parties, anniversaries, family reunions, company picnics and school field trips.

Aquatic Program
The aquatics program is structured to emphasize swim skill development, promote personal water safety, provide health and exercise, and serve as a venue for social interaction.

  • Sessions consist of ten, 30 minute lessons. (Except Session 3 due to July 4th holiday.)

Registration Information

  • Lesson sign-ups will be conducted on a first come first served basis. Class size is limited. You may register in advance for any session.

  • Registration begins March 1, 2011.

  • Register between 8:00 am & 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, at Madera Parks & Community Services, 705 East 5th Street. No registrations or reservations will be taken at the swimming pool.

  • Fee: $25.00 per person per session, plus a $3.00 Administrative Fee (non-refundable). Make checks payable to: City of Madera.

Certified Lifeguard Training
Are you interested in becoming a certified lifeguard? The City of Madera's Parks & Community Services is offering two four-day sessions to become a certified lifeguard. The two sessions offered for the 2011 summer season will be held at Centennial Park located next to the John W. Wells Youth Center.

Weekday session: April 18-21, 2011 (Mon-Thu)
Weekend session: May 21-22, 2011 & May 28-29, 2011 (Sat-Sun)

Pool Rental
Throughout the summer season, the pool is available for rentals on Saturdays from 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm and on Sundays from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm, 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm or 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm*.

Pool rentals begin the weekend of June 5, 2010 and every weekend thereafter until the closure of the pool on August 21st, 2010. The maximum pool capacity is 175 people.

All pool rentals include the use of the pool, pool deck area, dressing facility, restrooms and lifeguards.


Cost
:

$154 for four hours 0-75 guests
$191 for four hours 76-100 guests
$229 for four hours 101-125 guests
$266 for four hours 126-150 guests
$304 for four hours 151-175 guests

* (An eight hour session would be double the cost for a regular four hour session)

All pool rentals require an Administrative Fee (non refundable) - $13.00

Senior Water Aerobic Classes
For our senior citizens a low-impact water aerobics class is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. beginning in June 14, 2011.

 

The class features exercise under the guidance of a qualified instructor and lifeguard. There is a charge of $2 for each class.
