The Madera Police Department Traffic Division currently consists of five motorcycle officers and one sergeant.  One goal of the Madera Police Department is to lower the number of people injured and killed in traffic related accidents.  The traffic division believes this can be attained by taking an aggressive approach to traffic enforcement, thoroughly investigating injury traffic collisions, arresting intoxicated drivers and impounding vehicles operated by unlicensed or suspended license drivers.

The Traffic Division is currently working on our third consecutive grant, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.  The main purpose of these grants is to reduce the number of people injured and killed in traffic related accidents, through various DUI enforcement methods; including but not limited to DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols (where officers are assigned to go out and find DUI drivers).  We also participate in regional and national campaigns such as “Click it or Ticket” , and the “Avoid the 21” campaigns.

The Madera Police Department Traffic Difision would like to remind the citizens of Madera, that if everyone would follow a few simple steps, we could all make the streets of Madera a safer place to drive, walk, run, and bicycle:

  • SLOW DOWN
  • Wear your seatbelt, and put children in safety seats
  • Use your turn signals
  • DON’T DRINK & DRIVE!!! A single alcoholic drink, can affect your ability to operate a vehicle safely.
